Sustainable action is an integral part of BODE Chemie’s company culture. Decisions, process improvements and the implementation of new ideas is based on the three cornerstones of economic, ecological and social sustainability. From logistics, product development to staff – BODE Chemie accepts its responsibility to conserve resources, protect the environment and offer its employees best working conditions.

How we put sustainability into practice
Whether it’s ensuring we use resources carefully, finding alternative materials to make our packaging plastic-free, or supporting humanitarian aid organisations – we achieve our goals by acting responsibly and giving back to society. Some examples:

Sustainable and effective tissues
Producing green wipes for surface disinfection: Bacillol® Zero Tissues are sustainable (Organic Acid Complex, 100% plastic-free wipes, recyclable packaging), Bacillol® 30 Sensitive Green Tissues are 100% plastic-free.
Production
Reduced raw material consumption
Reduction of the weight of PE bottles saves over 83 t raw material annually. By optimizing the bottle labels, production steps could be saved and the recycling process improved.
Palletising
Increased pallet optimisation
Contribute to greater sustainability through a more efficient distribution. By increasing the pallet utilization rate, the transport related CO2 footprint of our goods is being reduced.

Low material loss
The average material loss rate in Germany is 5%. Our current material loss rate at BODE Chemie in Hamburg is below 2%, with a downward trend.

More efficient energy use
With our new high-speed filling line, we fill our bottles much faster, with the same energy consumption. The new line can handle bottle sizes of 100ml, 250ml, 500ml and 1000ml.
Palletising
Automatic palletising
Our new automatic palletizing system generates sustainable process optimization, which makes our shipments ready for dispatch much faster.
Environmental Certificate DIN ISO 14001
With an integrated environmental management system certified in accordance with the international ISO 14001 standard, BODE fulfils the high international demands in terms of environmental protection. In 1996, the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) introduced the ISO 14001 international standard for environmental management systems. Since then, annual internal and external audits by accredited organisations have reviewed whether the factual conditions are consistent with laws as well as self-imposed voluntary commitments and objectives within environmental management.

In addition, the regional environmental commitment is integral part of the company’s philosophy. Being member of the Environmental Partnership Program Hamburg (UmweltPartnerschaft Hamburg), BODE Chemie supports the improvement of Hamburg’s environmental balance and the promotion of sustainable economic activity.
Climate Certificate from Der Grüne Punkt – Duales System Deutschland GmbH
Recycling is a key factor in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and thus makes a significant contribution to climate protection. The recycling of our sales packaging through the dual system resulted in a reduction of 1.369 metric tons of CO2 equivalents in 2021.
