Do wash lotions have to be rinsed off after use?

Yes. Wash lotions are so-called rinse-off products, which are subject to the German Cosmetics Ordinance. Rinse-off products such as wash lotions and soaps have to be rinsed off from the skin. During rinsing, the skin’s fats are removed. Wash lotions contain surfactants or natural soaps, which are able to dissolve soils and residues, whereas only a rinse with water guarantees the removal of these substances. Not rinsing off the wash lotions may lead to skin irritations in individual cases.
