Sterillium®, surgical hand disinfection within 1.5 minutes

Sterillium®, tested in accordance with the European norm EN 12791 for surgical hand disinfection, achieves a significantly better effect after an application time of only 1.5 minutes than the reference alcohol propan-1-ol 60% v/v with an application time of 3 minutes – both for the immediate effect and after 3 hours (long-term effect).

The use of Sterillium® with shortened application time for surgical hand disinfection is approved by the German Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices as well as by the respective authorities in 11 further EU member states, Switzerland and Ukraine.

The administration authorities of these states regard it as proven, that Sterillium® not only meets the relevant European test methods for the efficacy of alcohol-based surgical rub-in hand antisepsis within the usual exposure time of 3 minutes, but additionally within 1.5 minutes. Besides Sterillium®, Sterillium® classic pure is the only approved hand disinfectant in Europe with a shortened exposure time of 1.5 minutes for surgical hand disinfection.
