Cutasept® med F reduces exposure time on skin rich in sebaceous glands

Cutasept® med F (BODE Chemie, Hamburg) only needs a quarter of the time usually required for the antisepsis of skin rich in sebaceous glands. Instead of the common 10 minutes the colourless skin antiseptic from BODE is the first to reach the maximum possible efficacy within 2.5 minutes.

The Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices (Bundesinstitut für Arzneimittel und Medizinprodukte – BfArM) already approved Cutasept® med F with an exposure time of 2.5 minutes on skin rich in sebaceous glands. And also the Association for Applied Hygiene (Verbund für Angewandte Hygiene e.V. – VAH) reacted on the new state-of-science for the antisepsis of skin rich in sebaceous glands. Since the beginning of this year, the VAH certifies exposure times that are shorter than the previously defined 10 minutes. The efficacy of the preparations has to be proven in comparison to the reference preparation (propan-2-ol, 70 vol. %) with a 10-minute exposure time.

Cutasept® med F is the first preparation that has been approved by the BfArM and included in the VAH's list of disinfectants with an exposure time of 2.5 minutes.

After already having reduced the exposure time in surgical hand disinfection, BODE now once more sets standards with regard to validated, actually required exposure times for disinfection procedures. A clear advantage also for health personnel: The saving of time allows for work routines that are more efficient.

Cutasept® med F is characterised by a rapid action, a broad spectrum of effect, and very good skin tolerability. The ready-to-use preparation is used for preoperative skin antisepsis as well as prior to blood samplings and injections.
The introduction of a coloured version for the preoperative skin antisepsis and marking of the operation area is being prepared.
